The Aquatic Center is located on the Biscayne Bay Campus, overlooking the bay. It is fully furnished and provides an environment for conversation, study, or sunbathing. The multipurpose design of the 50-meter by 25-yard pool and diving well allow for recreational and instructional use. To use the facility, a valid student I.D. is required. Faculty, staff, alumni, and the community at large may use the aquatic facility with a purchased pass from the Recreation Center Membership Services Front Desk. Day passes cost $7.00 per swimmer per day, and metered parking is available for $1 per hour in visitor’s parking.

Centrally located halfway between the Miami International and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airports, the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Complex is home to various age group swim teams and is the home pool for the FIU Women’s Swimming and Diving Team. Major production companies have also used the center for a number of commercial and international movie shoots. The aquatic complex is professionally operated with its own staff of certified swim and CPR/First Aid Instructors. Lifeguards are always on duty.
Swimming lessons for children are now offered by the North Miami Neptunes. Visit their website at www.swimneptunes.com or call (305) 987-6441 after 2:30 PM Monday-Friday and Saturday fro 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM. You can also email John Turnipseed, Head Swim Coach at swimneptunes@aol.com or coachjohn@swimneptunes.com for times and prices of the child Learn to Swim program offered at the FIU Aquatic Center.
Adult swim lessons are offered on a semester basis by the BBC Recreation Department. Information for upcoming lessons can be obtained by emailing or calling the Aquatics Coordinator or in person at the fitness center front desk.
Cost - $35 for FIU students, $45 for Non-students, $150 for eight private lessons
Scuba Classes are offered each semester for-credit, non-degree seeking students may register for a variety of scuba classes at our facility. Please visit the Registration’s webpage and follow the directions on registering as a non-degree seeking student. Of course, registered FIU students may also register to learn scuba. Scuba classes offered include PEN 2136 Basic Scuba Lab, PEN 2137 Advanced Scuba, PEN 218 Scuba Rescue Diving, and PEN 4135 Scuba Leadership.
Swimming and diving teams welcome to visit our facility for Winter Training. Interested teams are required to pay according to the breakdown below per swimmer/diver per day for use of the facility and are required to provide their own insurance.

$8.50 (plus 7.5% FL sales tax) per swimmer per day for 10 swimmers per lane during the AM
Long-Course swim/5 swimmers per lane during the PM Short-Course swim
$15 (plus 7.5% FL sales tax) per swimmers per day for 5 swimmers per lane during the AM
Long-Course swim/3 swimmers per lane during the PM Short-Course swim
